The California Legislature passed Assembly Bill 1826 in September 2014, which requires businesses that generate a certain amount of organic waste
develop a program to recycle this waste.Organic waste includes food scraps, spoiled food, food soiled paper products, and green waste. The City is in the process of evaluating options to develop an organic waste recycling program to serve our City.
This new program will have the potential to impact existing trash collection and the rates businesses pay.
In order to solicit feedback from our customers and interested community members, the City will host a workshop to discuss program options.
The workshop will be held Monday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m., at the Alexander Hughes Community Center/Grove Room, located at 1700 Danbury Road in Claremont.
The City will utilize feedback received during these meetings to develop a proposed program for further public review.
